We at Contract Production Ltd (CPL) are excited to announce the acquisition of our existing head office and production facilities in Pickering, expanding into a third adjoining unit as part of our ongoing growth strategy.
Our shareholders have invested over £500,000 in the acquisition and modernization of 9,600 sq. ft. of space across three adjoining units at the Thornton Road Industrial Estate. Having leased two of these units for the past decade, we seized the opportunity to purchase both, along with a third unit that had remained vacant since 2017. This expansion has enabled us, as specialists in sub-contract electronic products and printed circuit board assemblies, to nearly double our operational workspace.
Our Managing Director, Simon Norris, expressed his enthusiasm about securing the additional space to facilitate our expansion. He stated: “The additional empty unit is essentially a blank canvas, providing us with numerous possibilities. It is an exciting time for us, and our staff will play a key role in determining how best to utilize the new areas.”
“The space may be used to establish a dedicated area for the expansion of our automated production line, as well as to grow our component storage and warehousing facilities. Additionally, it will provide much-needed administrative space and meeting rooms,” he added.
Beyond the premises, our expanded facility will also offer an additional 10 parking spaces for staff and visitors.
This latest expansion follows a significant six-figure investment in our production lines last year, which has driven a 30% year-over-year increase in turnover within the past 12 months.
Simon Norris further stated: “I am highly confident that we will continue to grow as we maximize the use of this additional space, which will also enable us to expand our current 22-member workforce in Pickering.”
We plan to officially unveil our upgraded facilities later this year, coinciding with our 10th anniversary.
At Contract Production Ltd, we manufacture a wide range of sub-contract electronic products and printed circuit board assemblies for various industries. These range from one-off prototypes to large-scale production runs reaching volumes in the tens of thousands.
Last year’s investment facilitated the installation of the AM100 Panasonic Pick and Place line, enabling us to boost production output by up to 400%. Our advanced production line is capable of populating printed circuit boards at a rate of up to 30,000 components per hour, enhancing our ability to secure larger contracts.
In addition to high-volume orders, we also specialize in producing one-off prototypes and low-rate production runs, often assembled by hand, for new products awaiting market release. These products span a diverse range of applications, from GPS tracking devices and wind turbines to cameras and deep-sea oil drilling instrumentation.
